We at ITC are now offering 30 minute sessions of self-hypnosis. When you learn self-hypnosis, you can relax whenever you have a few minutes to spare. But first let me give you an explanation of just what this is.
When clients come to me for a session of hypnosis, I ask them if they have experienced hypnosis before. Many clients say “No” and of course they are telling the truth as they understand it. But in fact nearly everyone has experienced a trance-like state many times.
Here are a few examples to make things clearer:
Have you ever become absorbed in reading
a really good book, so much so that you didn’t hear your friend at the door? Or
maybe you quickly glanced up at the clock and realized you’ve been sitting
reading for the last couple of hours.
You were
completely focused on what you were doing and drifted off into a trance
state………….
I used to work at a College a distance
from home and had to leave very early in the morning. At first it was a long
boring road with so many roundabouts that at times I felt like taking a
different route and exploring a new life!
If only!
However, after driving there for a couple of weeks I would find myself driving
into the Village and parking the car. So what happened? Well, perhaps I might
say that the car just took me there. What happened was that I was in a state of
heightened awareness and the time just passed so quickly.
I was in a kind of trance state……………
T
he main differences between the examples above and self-hypnosis are specific motivation and suggestions towards a goal. Hypnosis channels the trance to achieve a desired result. This could simply be relaxation or achieving pain relief. When someone first experiences hypnosis, they don’t always believe that they have been hypnotized. “I don’t think it worked” I have heard people say. But I know they have as I have watched the stages they have moved through in their body language and their ability to respond either physically or verbally. You see, they have been there before in that trance state. You can learn to relax and take control just by learning self-hypnosis and you can use this for many things.
When you are in a hypnotic state your brain-wave pattern shows alert wakefulness. Hypnosis is a state of mind whereby suggestions are acted upon much more powerfully than is possible under normal conditions.
Why not give it a try and get in control of your life?
