Therapists Working at the Inverclyde Therapy Centre
Jean Adamson:
Senior & Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist &
Supervisor
Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist & Senior Practitioner (SQHP)
Hello - I'm
Jean and I trained in Clinical Hypnosis at the London College of Clinical
Hypnosis (LCCH) and furthered my training to Practitioner level in Hypnotherapy at Twa
Acres Hypnotherapy Training Centre (TAHT) in Dunfermline. I also have an Advanced
Diploma in Hypnotherapy from the Academy of Advanced Changework. I am a
Registered Senior Practitioner on the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), and my
specialist areas are: Children & Adolescents; Phobias; Pain Control. I subscribe
to the codes of ethical practice laid down by my professional bodies and I am
fully insured.
Past Lives
Regression to past lives formed part of my studies in hypnotherapy and it is a
fascinating area to be involved in. It often helps people to understand the
why's and why not's of this life.
Self-Hypnosis
I teach this as part of a full session of hypnotherapy but can also offer it
alone. Again, this was part of my hypnotherapy training, and a very valuable
component.
Hypno-Band
Jean is a licensed practitioner of the Hypno-Band, (virtual gastric band) weight
loss system.
Reiki Master
I studied with Paul Pritchard for my three stages of study in Reiki Healing and
received my attunements at each stage. I am trained to Master level
and qualified to teach Reiki.
Theta Healer
My training in Theta Healing to Practitioner level took place in
Glasgow with Mayella from Theta Miracles. Angels, Spirit Guides,
Auras - fascinating!
EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique
Alison Munro, an AAMET trainer who is also qualified in hypnotherapy
and EFT took me through my paces in EFT and I qualified as a practitioner. This
is a rapid method of releasing blockages in the system or past hurts. It is also
valuable to aid addictions.
I studied for my BSc (Hons) Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU)
and then worked in social care with learning disabled people before moving into
teaching within further education. As a Psychologist I taught at various Further
Education Colleges in areas involving social skills, development and individual
differences in people. Teaching in these areas enabled me to see the potential for Hypnotherapy as a 'cure' for many
ails including stress relief and exam nerves.
I later decided to specialise in Child Forensics at Portsmouth University where
I gained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Child Forensics. I then went onto gain a
Post-Graduate Diploma in Alcohol and Drug Studies at UWS, which included a placement at an alcohol
centre.
I have a particular interest in children, together with issues relating to children and
addictions. I also have an interest in non-verbal aspects of communication. My
interest in complementary/alternative therapies has expanded greatly over the
last six years, so do watch for developments taking place at this centre!
Prior to opening Inverclyde Therapy Centre I operated as Inverclyde Hypnotherapy
for four years.

Twelve years of work and training has involved building varied experience in
the therapeutic field, and brings me to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as
my present chosen approach. CBT involves exploring the link between our
thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It is based on the idea that changing the way
we think about things, can change the way we feel and what we do.
As a CBT counsellor I don’t have a magic wand to make you feel instantly
better. Instead I aim to offer active support in finding your own solutions.
This means working together to help you make the changes you want to make in
your life by: learning new skills, finding new ways of handling your feelings,
experimenting with new behaviours.
I am available for appointments at Inverclyde Therapy Centre on Wednesdays.
I am insured to practice and I am a member of the British Association of
Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).
I work with individuals and couples; a session lasts an hour at a cost of
£45.
Vicki McCarthy:
Therapist
Hi there, my name is Vicki and I have a passion for helping you heal from
past hurts and helping you feel better about yourself so you can live the
life you've always wanted. All of the techniques I offer are natural, gentle
and safe, and can be ued to create many great changes in your life. I use
them all personally with great effect and have also helped many clients
through the years. I truly live what I do and I think you'll feel this when
you come for a treatment.
When it comes to health and well-being, my belief is that we need more than
just healing on a physical level. Towards the end of my nursing career, I
began to realize that our emotional well-being is so important to
maintaining good health. When we're emotionally out of balance (eg stressed,
upset, angry, sad) then it can affect every part of our lives including our
physical health, career and our relationships with family and friends.
However, when we begin the process of changing how we feel emotionally then
remarkable things can happen. I offer a free 15 minute consultation if you
have nay questions and I would love to hear from you.
I am available at ITC on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all day &
on Saturday mornings for appointments only. Therapies offered are Reference
Point Therapy; Metamorphic Technique; Reiki.
Reference Point Therapy, sessions last approximately 1-1.5 hours and cost
£50
Metamorphic Technique sessions last approximately 1 hour and cost £30
